The Mise-En-Scene in this picture gives the impression that the 3 people in the foreground are being imposed upon by the media. It gives off the sense that the people that have there backs to us are under a lot of media scrutiny. The direct lighting on them really puts them on the spot and the hight intensity yellow light will really lighten up there looks, possibly to show that the people being interviewed look rundown. The actors that we can see (the possible interviewers) look tired as to say that they have been there a long time, the way that they are sitting shows that they might be physically fatigued. The setting for the interview is in a community type building, perhaps a school. This shows that the interview going on in the school has been done quite quickly as a school is not an ideal location to be doing interviews in. What I mean by quickly is that the event that happened to cause the interview to happen must have been unexpected and so the interview had to take place where ever. The decor of the school shows that it is most probably a primary school as the work on the wall looks very infantile and the chairs are small so for young children. The clothes the actors have on are very formal showing that what is going on in the scene is a professional event. The colours in the shot are very dull and there is no vibrancy in the shot, this gives the impression that the shot is meant to be solum.
The setting and location of this shoot is in an office of some sort, I can tell this because of the typewriters and the clothes that the actors in the shoot are wearing (smart dresses/ suites). Also the many smaller offices in the big office is a big of a clue that they are on an office floor. The tiles in the ceiling are also typical in a working environment such as an office. The dark fake wood doors and panels alongside the typewrites and old phones show that the shot is set sometime in the 70's/ 80's. The colours used for the decor are very bland eg: beige and dark orange. However in a contrast to that the actors are wearing bright vibrant clothes such as scarlet and turquoise. This shows that the characters are showing there individuality in a bleak dull workplace. The props in the shoot are typical office objects like plants in pots and file cabinets alongside stacks of paper, all of these things are there to show that the office they are in is a real working office that resembles the time period that they are meant to be emulating as there is no computers or digital phones. The women in the shoot all have very similar hairstyles which is odd giving the fact they are waring different clothes and colours, the reason behind this could be that the shoot was trying to have accurate hairstyles to the time period it was set and that was the most common hair style back then so the hair stylists are really going over the top to show how accurate they are being. The clothes that the actors are wearing are figure hugging this could be showing off and trying to show off there figure to impress the men perhaps. All the women in the shoot are heavily made up, the most prominent feature of the make up is the red lipstick. The colour red has connotations of lust and temptation, maybe the women in the workplace are trying to outshine each other and look nicer again to show off the the men that work there. The woman in the blue dress is talking down to the woman in the red and her posture, hand on hip looking very empowering over the other woman who is sitting down shows that the woman in the blue has more power both in the shot and in the role she has at her job.
