Ex_Machina used the usual marketing campaigns to promote itself, such as its teaser trailers and full trailers, The trailers were shown in movie screens before other movies the full trailer was shown on TV as well, Posters were put up around public places such as bus stops. There was plenty of online adverts like on Facebook. However the one thing i found odd when searching this is that the marketers created a tinder account for Ava who actively posted and responded to people.
